Holidays and Personal Time
At Hunton & Williams LLP, we observe the traditional holidays in all offices: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve (observed as one-half day, or a full day if it falls on a Friday) and Christmas Day. In addition, the firm provides three floating holidays in all offices.
Generous vacation time is provided for all exempt and non-exempt staff. Depending upon seniority, exempt staff receive up to 25 days of vacation per year and non-exempt staff receive up to 31 days of paid time off (PTO) per year. All vacation and PTO is prorated the first year and is eligible to be used upon employment. All benefits-eligible staff may carry over up to 5 days of accrued and unused vacation into the next calendar year.
Additional leave is also offered to help balance work and family life including adoption leave, bereavement leave, community service leave, jury duty leave, leave for families of deploying military members, military leave, maternity leave (short-term disability) and paternity leave. A leave-sharing program also allows staff to donate vacation or PTO to co-workers for emergencies affecting family members that may otherwise result in leave without pay.

The descriptions in this section provide summaries of currently available benefits. Full descriptions of these benefits should be consulted for complete information. Benefit policies are subject to amendment or termination in the firm's discretion at any time.

"Leave sharing is the most caring act that I can imagine. Last year, when I needed extra time to be with my husband who was very ill, I was able to do so without worrying thanks to extra leave donated by the wonderful people of Hunton & Williams. People who care are rare and we have the most caring people in the world. Thank you all."
