Summer Program
Our 2010 Summer Program will be an intimate and focused eight-week immersion experience. The program will be customized for selected participants based on their career goals and interests. We seek 2Ls (joint degree students are encouraged to apply) with outstanding academic achievement, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical abilities, demonstrated success as leaders and the ability to contribute to the diversity of thought and talent within our firm. Our program will be limited in size but not geography, so we will work to accommodate students’ location preferences.
Our 2010 program will be designed around the students who join our program, with an emphasis on mentoring, training and professional development through experiential learning. The goals and aspirations of our summer associates will drive their specific experiences and work assignments, as well as the mentoring and coaching they receive throughout the summer.
Anticipated program features will include:
- leadership skills training;
- individualized career mentoring and coaching;
- business development and client service training;
- opportunities to spend quality time with firm, industry, government and judicial leaders;
- practical experience of choice (such as negotiations, trials, depositions, hearings);
- opportunity to spend one or two weeks in a different US office;
- enhanced client interaction opportunities;
- intensive individualized coaching and feedback to develop writing and presentation skills;
- pro bono opportunities in areas of summer associates’ interest;
- judicial clerkship counseling and assistance;
- MBA or joint degree counseling and assistance; and
- work projects and experience in the practice areas of interest.
The Hunton & Williams Summer Program is designed to provide hands-on learning and real legal experiences. Participants will get to know the firm while gaining practical knowledge and advancing their overall career objectives.
